The Wisdom Council Ceremony offers an Earth-wisdom based framework for conscious, connected decision-making that honours all of life. Rooted in ancient teachings from Indigenous cultures, it draws on the wisdom of the Medicine Wheel and the Eight Directions, providing a holistic and grounded approach to making decisions that are sustainable, balanced and connected into the bigger picture.

For thousands of years, humans have lived in harmony with nature, learning from its patterns and natural laws. These teachings—our Original Instructions—remind us of our role in the great web of life. Like a bird whose unique role and characteristics contribute to the balance of nature, humans too have a vital part to play. Our actions must honour our place in the web, not disrupt it.

The Wisdom Council helps us return to that deep listening, guiding us to act in service to the whole, rather than from ego or fear. Through this process, we make decisions that nurture the web of life, taking into account the bigger picture and the consequences of our actions on future generations.

The Council works with eight perspectives: the four cardinal directions, the four elements (fire, water, earth and air) and the direction of time (past, present, and future).

 

Each direction offers a unique wisdom, ensuring that all aspects ensuring a healthy, whole decision are considered.

In a Wisdom Council, each direction is called upon, and the wisdom of each is shared through human representatives. This process removes personal agendas and allows the voice of each direction to be heard, resulting in decisions that are holistic, ethical, and effective.
